Peggy seiously rocked this story and blew me away with many twists that I just did not expect.

Eighteen-year-old Sage Hannigan wants to get back to her own time, preferably one that hasn’t been destroyed by an underworld plot brewing in Edwardian-era South Carolina. How hard can it be?
All she has to do is:
1. Learn to use newly acquired warping skills to bend time to her will.2. Take out a few rogue vampires.3. Join an ancient secret society.4. Figure out who is putting the time stream in jeopardy. 5. Find and maim whoever invented the corset.
Sage never asked to be chosen by the Druid Priestess, Amerach, to become a Warper. She also never asked to have the future hanging on her shoulders or to warp a hundred years into the past. She certainly never asked to meet Dr. Aldwin Blake, who would make her question her desire to get back to her own time. But if she fails her mission, people will die, history will change, and the present she wishes to return to will be no more.

Review

Contingency was another novel that I read the description awhile back and was interested but the wait between reading the description and reading the book kind of cleared my memory.  Basically this book and I got a fresh and surprising start because of my short term memory and it really turned out for the best.  This one was just chalk full of surprised and one element I really have come to love: time travel.

The story was fairly fast paced and a lot happened in what felt like a short period of time but there was passage of time that is not described.  This time was needed and due to the length of time it was understandable.  (name) travelled back to the year 1904 only to discover that so many things are not what she though and there is more to the world than she ever believed.  The reason for her return: to save the world.  Okay maybe that is kind of drastic but she was taken back for a reason and to stop some dramatic changes. There is a lot to do and a mission to accomplish but the question was, can a girl from 2004 save 1904?

Sage was kind of a loner.  Not that she was anti social but with no family and no close friends she wasn't exactly surrounded by people that would miss her.  This worked to her advantage because missing for months could be hard to explain if you had people that were constant in your life.  I did enjoy Sage's witty and stubborn attitude and got many giggles out of it.  The free speech that she was used to just wasn't acceptable in 1904 and well 18 years kind if builds up habits.  Though she did tone it down Sage remained her outspoken self and frequently refused to be pushed about.  Actually I don't think that there was a bone in her that was weak, she was an all around determined person.  This however did not extend to the love department but we will get to that later.

There are actually quite a few secondary character.  Travis, Elaine, Phoebe and a couple others that just aren't coming to mind right now.  The first three stand out because they all play a small part in (name) life in 1904.  Though these people stand out I never really felt a particular connection to any of them.  Travis was the one to find Sage when she arrived in 1904 and kind of saved her but beyond that he plays a fairly minor part in the grand scheme of things, same as Phoebe.  Elaine was a little more major but I never really got a true feel for her.  That did explain a lot though in he end.

This was quite a start for Peggy.  She has many elements that are working for her and the fact that she managed to create such a great story while combining these elements speaks volumes of her talent.  Relativity is out and I am itching to get my hands on it to see what happens to Sage and how she deals with her new found issue! Congrats to you Peggy and I look forward to more from you.

Quotes
Sometimes life can unexpected.  Sometimes things surprise you and all you can do is roll with the punches or let them beat you to a bloody pulp.

I turned the corner across from my apartment building and promptly collided with someone.  I yelped as I jumped back and immediately grabbed my two-ton messenger bag, fully prepared to whack the crap out of my assailant.

I stepped in front of the full-length mirror to see if I looked as foolish as I felt.  My eyes widened.  If it weren't for the cut lip and scrapes on my cheek, I'd have looked quite respectable.  I snorted at my reflection.  Respectable, my fanny!

Something had to be wrong... I mean this was a drunken version of Mary Poppins!  It was just all kinds of wrong.

I felt more than I heard a deep chuckle, probably because even though I was arguing, my body had gone limp in his arms.  Traitorous hormones!

Author R.E. Sheahan **Interview & Giveaway**

R.E. Sheahan contacted me and I contacted her back...  Well long story short
she ended up here and I am so glad that she found me...

Meet R.E. Sheahan
I have always been a reader. I love books, all the characters you meet, grow to love or hate, and the exciting places stories take you. When I wasn’t able to read, I listened to audio books on tape or CD. Still do. So at any given time, I probably have and audio book and an e-book or paper back going.
I wrote stories as a kid, usually about horses and dogs. Later, I realized I wrote fairly decent newspapers articles and was being asked to write letters for friends and family.

I started to dabble in writing while working as a Paramedic/Firefighter in Northern California. Trust me, it’s not like it appears on TV. There was plenty of time for books, mostly reading them.

I didn't seriously start writing until I moved to a ranch in Oregon. While waiting for lambs to be born in the middle of the night, I would head back to the house for an hour or two and sit down at the computer. Before I knew it, I had a book. It wasn't good, needed lots of work, but I learned a few things along the way.
I got involved with critique groups and went to writer's conferences. I was on the fast track to learning.

About four years ago the dabbling became more serious when worlds and characters screamed for, no, demanded attention. So I wrote my first manuscript. Then I wrote a second, a third, and a fourth. Wow! Ideas from dreams follow me into warm sunny days or the quiet of falling snow. What ifs feed a vivid imagination. Even miss-typed phrases may lead to an "aha" moment. Brain storming sessions standing in windy, dark parking lots with fellow writers release thoughts that pry at the corners of my mind, grasping for purchase. Sometimes the ideas pursue me, with persistence.
The line-up of book ideas in my computer grows. Those will get their chance to be heard and seen when my Storm of Arranon Series is finished.Hmmm. Finished?

Interview
Pink= Me
Purple= R.E.

Hello Tiffany!  Thank you so much for this opportunity! And it’s so much fun!

Most memorable moment as an author so far.
There are several, but in a way, they are the same. For me, it’s that moment
when I see a review from a reader that enjoyed my book. There’s nothing like
that feeling!

Is there anything that you have to have with you while writing?
Coffee is a good first! Or tea. I like Whale Tea, it has a sweet, spicy, orange
flavor. (BTW. No whales were harmed in the making of this tea!)
I got used to writing with the TV on and still seem to work better with that low
background noise. I know many writers have music going while they work. I
can’t. I tend to get into the music and my concentration slips. But I do like to
have music when I’m walking, working out a scene or a character.

What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Family. Friends. I know that’s two, but some friends are like family.

One thing that you wish you could live without.
Hmmm. Cupcakes. Not that I want to live without cupcakes. Maybe just cupcake control!

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
No. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a cowgirl, you know, work on a ranch. In
high school, I wanted to be a veterinarian. After high school, I thought being a
paramedic would be cool.  It was during that paramedic time in my life, and later the working on a ranch part, (where I did learn to do much of my own vet work), I found what I
believe is what I am meant to do.
Write.
It was all necessary to get to where I am today.

If you could go back in time to see one thing what would it be? Or would you
prefer a sneak peek at the future?
I would choose the future, to see intergalactic space flight and interaction with
alien races. I often look up at the night sky and . . . well, the what if’s start!

Do you relate to one of your characters more than the others?
They all have an aspect of me, or what I would like to be. But I would have to
say I relate to Erynn most.

Cover design . . . Do you do it or do you have someone do it for you?
I am very fortunate to work with artists to create my covers. I have in mind
what I want, but do listen to their suggestions. It ends up being a collaboration
and in some ways, the choices I’m presented with are more difficult than
writing the book!

What is the one thing that is always, always in your purse.
Easy. A book. <-- A lady after my own heart!!

Review

Storm of Arranon was nothing like what I had expected.  Though I can't truly describe what I had expected but I was kind of overwhelmed by everything to start.  There is so much detail and the worlds that have been created are a lot to take in.  Not that this is a bad thing but I had to revisit a couple of things because I felt I had overlooked some information.  Which I kind of had because despite my attention being completely centralized in this book I think my attention got ahead of a few pages.  Yes this book was a victim of me needing to know what was happening.

The story was busy.  Erynn is the daughter of a powerful man and though she may be the adopted daughter, people still pay attention to her because of it or so she thinks.  She is special and has no idea why but knows that she must hid who she is because if people find out what she can do it wont matter who her dad is she would be in trouble or would she?  Turns out that more people know what/who she is than she thinks know and they know more about her than she even does.  Like the fact that there are more people out there that are like her but it seems that she is the one with the untapped power that she doesn't even know the exact extent of.  But in order to save her worlds she will need to figure it out and take some chances.  There is so much to take in and absorb but details really make the difference.

Erynn was a driven character right from the start.  Though I had trouble figuring her feelings to start they clear up as you read.  By this I mean that there is a lot of jumping from here to there but given the circumstances and what is happening I kind of overlooked it while reading.  The best part of Erynn was the development.  She knew that she was different but because of the fear of what may  happen if someone figured it out.  When she finds out that there are more people out there that are like her she opens up a little and starts to discover herself.  Best part is that she doesn't discover everything she can do all at once, it's a learning process that she at times struggles with.  There were times that she did what she had to even if she didn't want to but she did it because it was right and her instincts told her it was the only way.

The romance really wasn't very developed in this book.  The thing between Jaer and Erynn was really just a here nor there thing.  They both liked each other but Erynn was never really sure of Jaer's feelings for her.  He definitely had a hot and cold thing going and unfortunately I never really caught why besides the fact that he lived a different life in order to get to the rank and position he was in.  Thing was he was confused about how he felt most of the time but he did have one consistent: he wanted to do what was best for Erynn.  The small glimpses of the relationship that could and started to develop though looked so promising.

Storm of Arranon shows so much promise and R.E. Sheahan's writing style is different than most I have read but finishing this book I am ready for book two.  With so much going on there is no other way to describe this but fast paced but I believe that fans of fantasy will really love this one, especially with the alternate worlds that have been crafted.

Quotes
"Yes."  He tipped his head and scrutinized her face.  "You finally broke under Kendall's unending lecturing and fell asleep, dreaming you were chained to the desk.:  A smile threatened at the corners of his mouth.

He understands what I am, a freak of nature.  Don't touch.  Don't get too close. Her gut clenched and her heart squeezed against the emotion building in the empty chambers.

"Yes.  Find Cale.  Our enemies are many.  Listen to the maejen.  Learn from the aleun, the wind, the trees.  Arranon awaits your request.  Bind the two worlds.  They must be one.  Unite your brothers and sisters," the voices chorused.

No.  They will return.  And I will question Jaer about his puzzling manner toward me.  Learn if his inconsistency is because of what I am, or something else.  Maybe he just needs to understand the way I feel.

Newly commissioned Interceptor fighter pilot, Erynn Yager, knows sacrifice. Her battle against a brutal alien enemy intent on destroying her two worlds set her on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, all while struggling to gain control of her secret abilities. With the alien threat crushed, Erynn believes the worst is behind her. She settles in to experience first love and a changed life on a hidden military base deep inside a glacier covered mountain on Arranon. Her peaceful existence can’t last. Dhoran, the evil sovereign of Arranon’s underworld has risen from the dead to possess an unwilling human. Dhoran’s powers grow while he plots a war that may plunge Arranon onto a path of destruction neither realm will survive. Arranon is pulled into chaos as violence spreads across the planet.Drawn first in visions, Erynn enters a diverse world beneath Arranon’s surface, a realm teeming with danger, mystery, and beauty. The battle thrusts her into an uncharted kingdom, intensifying her connection to the heart and soul of the living Arranon.

Review

Well from the previous book you have to know that I was looking forward to seeing how things went in this book.  Things went amazing. This book pulled me in far more than the first.  Like I read it straight through in an afternoon because the drama and the deception was just piling up and I didn't want to stop even for a meal.  I actually ate my dinner while still reading.  The writing was much smoother and I had a better grasp on what was going on.  Though book one had me interested, with this series book two is the one to hook me.  This is not a normal occurrence for me but I am kind of enjoying it.

With this story you have Erynn and her now accepted  abilities/differences but to her there are still many secrets she needs to hide. Where  in the last book she was unsure of her abilities Erynn is now starting to accept that there is a lot more to her than she could have even imagined.  This is good because she has to face a greater evil than ever.  This threat doesn't come from a different planet but from within.  Problem is this time around the threat isn't as openly visible but a much more organized and patient being.  How do you fight an invisible enemy.

I am really growing fond of Erynn.  This girl is remaining strong and continues to grow in many ways.  My favourite thing is still that even with her range of abilities growing she doesn't just get everything at once and understand how it works.  Like it seems now she gets how to manipulate the weather but there are new things that she is still trying to get the swing of.  Her one and only downfall is that she is always determined to do things alone.  When there is danger she frequently rationalizes going out on her own and it almost always gets her into more trouble than needed.  Sometimes I got it but others I just couldn't figure out why she would be so difficult but it is something that he has been since the first book.  She is proof that even when a character grows and becomes better one things will just never change.

The relationship between Jaer and Erynn became a little more prominent in Fire and Ice and I loved the development.  Just because it became more doesn't mean it became less complicated.  Actually it became more complicated and bigger blocks were placed in front of the couple.  One of the blocks was large enough I thought for sure Erynn was going to have to take a broken heart and learn to live with it but not everything is as it seems and I need to stop jumping to conclusions!  I just hope that things smooth over for his couple by the next book because I'm not sure how much more I can handle.

Fire and Ice was an amazing second installment and I enjoyed it more than the first.  The cliff hanger at the has me seriously wishing I had book three in my hands.  There is some serious anticipation building up and my mind is reeling with all the possibilities.  R.E. Sheahan is really pulling out all the stops and has this reader hopelessly addicted to her vivid world and characters.

**Note:  Isn't this cover BEAUTIFUL!

Quotes
"Yes, I do." Cale pushed away to stare into her eyes, still holding her.  "You arent alone, Erynn.  You don't have to do these things alone anymore."  He brushed at her cheek with a gentle touch.  "We take care of each other, help each other here."

"Jaer takes the security of this base seriously.  His need to protect you is personal.  Go eat.  Jaer's over being angry with you.  He can't stay mad at you for long." He chuckled.

A vision swirled before her.  A little boy with dark curly hair and ice-blue eyes giggled in Jaer's arms.  The expression of love and pride on Jaer's face melted her heart.

Drom stood tall, his chin thrusting forward.  "I will fight with you when the time comes, Erynn.  To the end."  He grabbed her shoulders and gave her a quick shake.  "A warriors death with honor."  Erynn's heart constricted.  She bit at her lower lip.  "Let's prey it doesn't come to that."

  1. You have such beautiful writing, does it just flow from you like that or is it much harder than that? Awe, thank you! In truth, the words typically just flow like that. Of course, I have to rework them like crazy once they are out of my head. But the basics of my style pours out that way.
  2. From the emotion packed Requiem series to the more dark and daring Transcend you show your talent. What inspires you? That is a hard question for me. I guess I am just inspired by human nature - from love to laughter, to pain and sorrow, the entire human condition is interesting to me. I deeply moved by art, music, poetry. My writing flows from that love, I think.
  3. What kind of projects do you have on your plate right now? Several actually. I am getting things ready for the release of The Girl Guide in a few weeks, and I just finished up Quiet Kids, a nonfiction book due out this fall. In fiction, I am finishing up the Requiem Series with Dominus, set to release in late Spring 2013. After that, I have two amazing thrillers I can not wait to go back to.
  4. What is the one thing that you always have with you? My iPhone - whether it is to listen to music, chat, or check my email, it is the thing I always have on me!. LOL
  5. If you could do one thing over what would it be? Honestly, I don't know. I know that sounds a bit trite, but I purposefully choose to life without regret. So, I have a hard time thinking about "do-overs". This isn't to say that I don't make mistakes. I do. But even in mistakes there is great opportunity for growth. So, I never really think of re-doing anything.
  6. Most memorable moment since releasing Lacrimosa. There are two that instantly come to mind: 1) when a NYTimes Bestselling Author friend emailed to tell me how much she LOVED Transcend (I nearly DIED), and 2) when I first realized I had fans....actual fans. I am truly humbled by the support my books have received.
  7. For people that haven't read your books how would you describe them? I write both Nonfiction and Fiction. In Nonfiction, my Self-help books are geared for kids, teens, parents, and educators, and focus on becoming the best "you" you can become. In fiction, I write dark character-driven stories that explore aspects of humanity most of us will never experience, from the twisted caverns of mental illness to the all-consuming fire of epic-styled love.

**Review Repost** LACRIMOSA by Christine Fonseca

I actually have a confession with this post.  I kind of have a serious crush
on this entire series.  This is a review from awhile back but my passion and feelings
towards this book/series/author has not changed.  I wish I had these books on my shelf
not just on my kindle and will one day but if you have them ANYWHERE and have yet to
touch them: START ASAP!!!!

It’s been three thousand years since the fall of Azzaziel and the rebirth of evil; three thousand years since the Sentinal Order, an elite group of warrior angels, returned to Celestium. Their job—rid Earth of the dark creatures, the UnHoly. And with luck, end Azza’s rule.
As if casting out demons isn’t hard enough, five-hundred-year-old Nesy has to masquerade as a teenage girl to do it. Nesy is the best of the Sentinals. She never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never gets emotionally involved. Until she meets Aydan.
He is evil incarnate; a fallen angel that feeds off the souls of others. Everything Nesy is supposed to hate. But she can’t, because he’s also the love of her former life as a human girl—a life that ended too soon, tying her to emotions she was never supposed to feel.
Now Nesy must choose between doing her duty—damning Aydan to the fiery depths of hell—or saving him, and condemning herself. And her choice may cost her, and Celestium, far more than anyone realizes.
How much will she sacrifice for love?

Review
**Please bare in mind this is a review from last year**

Okay I seriously hate to start a review like this but OMG!!! Seriously this book blew me away!!  I was amazed at the amount of emotion there was and yet it didn't take away from the story.  I am still (4 days later) having issues getting past just writing sentence after sentence of wow!  I went into this book with fairly high expectations.  That is not typical of me at all, but high expectations and all this book blew me out of the water.  Yes, you have your Angels that are here to vanquish the evil, and yes evil is HOT but nothing will prepare you for the ride that you will go on in this book.  The is so much love, pain and action that you wont want to stop.

Nesy... To be honest I don't know how do do this character justice.  There are so many reasons that I have respect for her.  With her blond hair and blue eyes I almost expected her to be the typically beautiful girl that just smiles and turns heads wherever she may tread.  She is not that girl.  Well I mean she is that girl but that is only scratching the surface.  Nesy is a Sentinel.  Saying that really doesn't describe what you need to know.  Nesy is top of her class and never, I mean NEVER misses her target.  She is the one they send when they want the job done and done right and clean.  Why is this job so different?  Why when she looks at the the dark Aydan does her emotions stir.  Emotions long ago forgotten and now unwanted.  Unwelcome as they are she can't ignore them and needs to find a way to look past them and finish the job before things get too complicated.  Nesy doesn't want to fail and she would do anything to prove that she is strong enough to do what needs to be done.  When the time comes and the pressure is on anything is possible for her though.
"Your time here is finished," she yells...
Aydan is what we would classify as the bad guy.  He has been the right hand man on Azza for hundreds of years.  He is at the mercy of him to be honest.  What Azza says goes and that is how he lives his life.  Well there is also the little fact that he has no problem feeding his hunger.  Claiming what he wants and taking all he needs.  There is so much freedom so much choice that he never thought that his mind may change.  The scent that almost sent him into a frenzy may be more than he ever could have expected.  When the prey is more resistant the hunt only becomes more interesting.  The desire to hunt and fill his needs only grows stronger but is that what it really is?  What is it about the new girl that has him feeling so different than normal?  As his time to become something more than he is draws nearer will he be able to do what he is meant to do or is his world only one breath one step away from changing.
My world slips away and I again taste vengeance on my tongue.
Zane, Cass, Lori are also super note worthy characters.  You don't see much of them but each and every one of them leaves their own impact on you.
Zane is not always controlled but he cares for Nesy.  He is a strong firend and loyal to her almost every step of the way and that also means that sometimes he must be the one to speak the truth when no one else wants to.  He isn't always subtle but his honesty and loyalty speak volumes about who he is.  A Mediator that's job is to protect and rely messages.  He had helped Nesy centuries ago and is still there for her in all the times that really matter to her.
" Yes you are! And you're risking all our lives in the process."
Cass is the more calm of the group.  Where Zane is brutally honest and straight forward, Cass is the one to understand.  She is the one that understands matters of the heart even when she shouldn't.  I can't help but picture Cass with a beautiful and soft face the shows the calm and caring that rest within her.
"We'll make sure Lori stays safe. Do what you must." Cass embraces me.
"Be careful," she whispers
Lori is the one person that Nesy befriends at school.  There is something about her that makes her special.  There is no sign stating that she will be the key to anything or be anyone but she seems special.  Even different.  Lori shows concern for Nesy even when Nesy tries to reassure her that she can take care of herself.  It doesn't matter how you look at Lori she is special and you can not deny it.
Everthing else -- her blazing hair, her too-old eyes, her antique dress -- Screamsof another time altogether.

This novel is so much more than its vivid characters.  There is a rich and clear world that has a strong background (see Dies Irae).  You see the world of light and take some steps into the darkness.  We all know that there can not be no light without some dark and no good without the evil.  This novel takes that balance and makes you question if maybe those two sides can blend and make a grey area and if it does will it work.  The dreams that these characters have are passionate.
A hand in mine.. hot. Breath on my neck... sweet. The feel of lips on my
own... forbidden.
Everyone in the book has a job.  A place where they belong and know where they stand.  You don't have to worry about being lost at any point in the book.  There is no love triangle or a love that s there too easily.  Every moment that passes in this book you know what should happen and what you want to happen.  Not a single moment do you have to sit back and think "Why is this happening?" or "How did they get there?"
The only being I'll ever love.  The one I must kill.
I never mastered anything.  I am damaged.  Broken.  And I always will be.
Do not let this read pass you by.  Christine has taken love and angels to a higher level.  This book will draw you in and hook you right until the very last page.  You will experience love, fights and lessons as you read this book.  Every page you turn and every word you read will leave you addicted and feeling what the characters feel.  I wish I could do this book justice in this review and hope I came close because I was honestly stunned and blown away on so many levels.  This read is fun, original and easy!!
I part my lips and succumb fully to the moment.  My body feels as though it willimplode as heat fuses my cells from my belly to my head.
*****
Like I  said I still love this series and am personally saddened that it is coming to an end!

I've been telling stories pretty much since I could talk. Instead of having my parents
read me bed-time stories, I would prefer to share with them my own made up tales.

As I grew older, I developed a passion for the fantasy genre.

My debut novel, A Shade of Vampire, was released on December 14, 2012.
The book became a Number 1 Christmas Bestseller in Vampire Romance, Paranormal

Excerpt from A Shade of Vampire

I’d been meandering along the shore for about an hour when I suddenly sensed that I
wasn’t alone. Someone was approaching me from behind. My heart leapt. I was so sure it
was Ben, that when a stranger showed up beside me, I couldn’t hide my disappointment.
He must have noticed, because a smirk formed on his lips. “Were you expecting someone
else, love?”
I eyed him suspiciously, remembering how many times my father had told me not to talk
to strangers. I looked him over, taking in his appearance. My eyes widened. I couldn’t
find words to describe how fine a man he was. He was almost beautiful. The first thing I
took notice of was how his blue eyes were about three shades brighter than any I’d ever
seen before. It was such a stark contrast to his pale – almost white – skin and dark hair.
Standing beside me, he was easily more than half a foot taller. His height, broad shoulders
and lean build reminded me of Ben, but he had a presence that was far more imposing.
My gaze settled on his face.
I realized that he was inspecting me just as closely as I was him. His eyes on me suddenly
made me feel uncomfortably vulnerable. I gave my father’s advice a second thought, but
quickly canceled out all notions of heeding to his counsel when I reminded myself that he
stopped caring a long time ago.
I straightened to my full height and mustered all the courage I had to keep myself from

running away from this stranger.
The confident smirk didn’t leave his face for even a moment.

“A bit full of yourself, aren’t you?” I scoffed, annoyed by his audacity.
He stepped forward, closer to me, and leaned his head toward mine.
“Don’t I have the right to be?”
He knew he looked good and wasn’t about to act like he didn’t.
“Whatever,” was my oh-so-brilliant comeback.

My shoulders sagged with defeat as I took a step back, unsettled by how close he was
now. I rolled my eyes and did a one-eighty, not quite in the mood to play whatever game
this stranger was proposing.
I would soon realize that I was about to play his game whether I liked it or not.

He grabbed my arm and turned my body to face him. This motion alone made every
single internal alarm I had within me go off in a frenzy.

This man was danger and I knew it. I tried to wriggle away from his touch, but I was no
match for his strength.
“Tell me your name,” he commanded.
I was about to refuse, but was horrified to find myself blurting out my name in response.
As soon as I revealed my name, his eyes lit up with a kind of sinister approval. Then he
reached for my face and traced his thumb over my jaw line.
“Hello, Sofia Claremont. You’re one stupid girl for taking a walk alone at this time of
night. You never know what kind of evil a pretty little thing like you could happen to
come by.”

I found myself wondering exactly what kind of evil he was. But I was suddenly overcome
by the sensations that were surrounding me. My senses took in everything at once. I heard
the waves, felt the sand, smelled the ocean salt, tasted the flavor of cherry and saw the
stranger’s manic appearance as he stuck a needle to my neck. The effect was instant. I
was barely able to gasp, much less scream. I went from sensing everything to sensing
absolutely nothing.

My last conscious thought was that I may never see Ben again.

   * In a vampire dominated time did you find it difficult to find
things that were original and your own?

Not really. I don't read much vampire fiction and don't find it difficult to just get lost in my own world.

* Where do you write the most? Do you have a special place?

I work mostly at my desk in my bedroom.
So I don't really have a special place. But I do have a special time: I love working in the early hours in the morning, from about 1am onwards.

* You can have one super power, what is it?

To be able to fly without needing to actually sprout wings.

* What can you not leave the house without?

I'm sad to say it, but: my iPhone!

* Best advice that you have for aspiring authors.

Set yourself a minimum time period for which you must write every single day.

* Best part about being an Indie Author.

There's no waiting time; I can get a book out to my readers as soon as I have finished it.

Last time you read a book? What book was it?

The last book I read was Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel.

Review

I am a complete sucker still for Vampires.  Sometimes I do tire of them but I always end up back picking another vamp book up.  It kind of amazes me that there are so many and yet they all manage to have their own unique twist.  Bella has come out
with a great debut novel and showed some serious potential.  The writing wasn't over the top but it was enjoyable and I never found myself lost.

The book is told from two different point of view, Derek and Sofia's.  I am such a fn of multiple POV's.  I find it gives more depth to a story.  With this you get to see inside Sophia's worries and Derek's broading attitude.  They were two very different people that helped shape the story.  When Sofia is taken her entire world changes and she has to become more and be more than she ever has before.  Meeting Derek upon his awakening was not ideal but they figured it out.  The two of them have a lot to figure out and a lot to fight for but it seems between the two of them they may just be able to work it out.

Sofia was a character that I was unsure of to start.  When the story starts she is moping over a guy.  That guy may be her best friend and someone she has a crush on but the fact that she had slunk away because of him forgetting her birthday had me worried.  Turns out I was worried for no reason.  I ended up liking her not too long after she was taken to the shade.  Instead of admitting defeat she stood strong and showed compassion and strength for the other girls.  Despite her horrible situation and the fact that escape is not attainable she keeps up hope and takes her position in Derek harem and tries to help the other girls remain comfortable.  Sofia really grows a lot in this book and though at times I found myself irritated with her acceptance of some things she really is easy to like.

The romance and relationship part of this scared the crap out of me when Derek seemed to go all Edward when it came to Sofia.  I can handle an Edward/Bella relationship every now and again but it has become over done for me now.  Fortunately even though Sophia found herself attracted to Derek she didn't fall all over him and wish to become a vampire and live happily ever after.  No she kept her distance and questioned what it was that she felt and why she would feel it.  They developed something as the story went that she at first considered a friendship and then began to consider him and his world home.  A place that she was comfortable.  Derek was a bit more quick to the gun and was possessive like a typical vampire.  Though it did seem that he did wind up genuinely caring about Sophia his instant ability to starve for her and then hold back was a little much.  I did end up kind of falling for him myself but that was near the end and only because some of his actions.

A Shade of Vampire was an evenly paced read that I found myself pulled into easily.  I was actually reading it while waiting for something and found myself done before it was even my turn and before I even realized that I had read that much.  This series shows a lot of potential and I do look forward to seeing where it goes.  There are many ways it can continue after how it ended and a few hopes I have but I guess I will have to wait and see.

Quotes
I never once imagined that my life would play out the way it did.  To be fair, I guess I could say that life never really unfolds the way we expect it to.- Sofia

I couldn't remember ever feeling more beautiful than I did at that momen, and yet, I felt nothing but absolutler dread.  I had a sinister feeling that it was likely not to a young girls advantage to look stunning at The Shade.- Sofia

But I was the preditor.  She was my prey.  And even as I admired her for that ine simple gesture, I was battling to prevent myself from relishing the sweet delicacy she was to my kind.- Derek

She shifted on the bed, her blanket getting tossed to her side, showing a generous amount of skin on her soft legs.  My gut clenched and a swallowed hard.  Nights with Sofia.- Derek

NO matter what alpha male act I might pull off in trying to intimidate her, I knew the truth.  She was no longer mine.  At some point during all those nights I'd spend with her, I'd become hers.
