Hunger Aroused - By Dee Carney

Release Date: 11/8/2010
Publisher: Carina Press
Website: Dee Carney
Purchase Info: Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Jasmine is sick in bed when a sexy stranger breaks in and reveals she's suffering an irreversible case of vampirism. And because her turning wasn't approved by the Council, he must kill her once the transition is complete. In the meantime, the executioner offers to ease her torment with chocolate, hot peppers or sexual release. Fortunately for them both, Jasmine's kitchen is bare...

Corin's honor demands he do his duty, but he cannot execute the lovely woman while any part of her humanity remains. He must also find—and kill—her sire. Jasmine denies ever having contact with a vampire, causing Corin to question the justice of his orders. Sensing his hesitation, the Council dispatches another executioner, forcing the pair to make a run for it.

Every hour they spend together—every sensual encounter they share—finds them growing closer. Now Corin will have to choose: kill the woman he loves, or go against everything he believes to set her free.

When I first started reading this book I was a little baffled about how the vampire transformation occurred. Jasmine just thinks that she's coming down with some random bug and feels like death-warmed-over. When she finally reaches the comfort of her bed, vampire executioner Cornin is there to take her back to the council so that she can be disposed of. Sounds like a great scenario huh? Yeah well just when he thinks that his plan won't have any hiccups, Cornin finds himself helping Jasmine through her transformation. (and when I say help I mean all hands on deck, if ya know what I mean). A job that is usually performed by her sire, who just happens to be MIA, is now falling into the unwilling hands of this centuries old executioner.

While reading this book I seemed to find my heart going out to Jasmine, a lot. Being turned against her will, and not knowing how it happened, having to trust her new vampire life in the hands of the one man who tells her he's going to have to kill her, then on top of that having some weird egocentric vampire after your blood so he can experiment on you. Poor girl, all she wants to do it go back to her old life. She never asked for any of this! Now here she is stuck in vampire hell with the mother of all killers as the only person she can turn to, and unknown to her he's starting to realize that there's other things in life more important then killing and revenge.

For my second erotica novel I was truly blown away with how Dee was able to balance the sex, action, and a great story line. You could tell that writing steaminess is what she does, but she's also a great author who can tell a fantastic story!

Fresh Face Friday 3-4-11

A warrior, a demon, and the girl next door. . .

Looking For Trouble

Addy Corwin is a florist with an attitude. A bad attitude, or so her mama says, cause she's not looking for a man. Mama's wrong. Addy has looked. There's just not much to choose from in Hannah, her small Alabama hometown. Until Brand Dalvahni shows up, a supernaturally sexy, breathtakingly well-built hunk of a warrior from--well, not from around here, that's for sure. Mama thinks he might be European or maybe even a Yankee. Brand says he's from another dimension.

Addy couldn't care less where he's from. He's gorgeous. Serious muscles. Disturbing green eyes. Brand really gets her going. Too bad he's a whack job. Says he's come to rescue her from a demon. Puh-lease. But right after Brand shows up, strange things start to happen. Dogs talk and reanimated corpses stalk the quite streets of Hannah. Her mortal enemy Meredith, otherwise known as the Death Starr, breaks out in a severe and inexplicable case of butt boils. Addy might not know what's going on, but she definitely wants a certain sexy demon hunter by her side when it all goes down . . .

After finishing law school, taking the bar exam (and I'm not talking seeing how many shots you can hold down in 15 minutes), and getting a job with a state agency, Lexi realized somewhere along the way that people are assholes and she needed a true escape from it all. So then came along, Demon Hunting in Dixie. Lexi George's debut novel that leads us down into the heart of the south. Where the main character seems sharp as a tack and won't take non-sense from NO ONE.

While gathering info about the author & her novel I ran across some great reviews, and I'm more excited now then ever to get my hands on a copy! (Honestly I really want to read about Brand, he sounds YUM-ME!)

So if you'd like pre-order your own copy of, Demon Hunting in Dixie, which comes out April 26th, make sure you stop by Lexi's webiste for all the info you need. Then hop over to her Facebook and become a fan! Enjoy!

Inner Heroine Chronicles: Good Deeds, then explosions...(Part 1)

Today Moxie (that's what my heroine named herself) has decided that she needs to blow something up. She's just super pissed, for whatever reason, and destruction is her outlet of choice. So here I am trying to calm her down. Make her understand that combustibles are not the answer...

though it would be pretty cool to see her go and take out the utility company, they're on my shit list....but no.

I'm trying to convince her to turn that pissed-off-ness into a good deed. Like knit 20 scarves for the homeless, or save a tiny kitten from the pound. Anything but causing public damage....because the costs associated with that can get EXPENSIVE.

So I let her cool down, ya know, take a steel pipe to the abandoned car out back. Anything to get her out of this mood. As Moxie is making her way back I'm watching as she's erratically pointing at her head yelling, "SEE!! This is why I'm pissed!". Opening my mouth to respond I say the first thing that pops into my head, "So you're mad because you have a bad dye job?". Oh shit! Her body instantly went rigid, and those ice blue eyes fixated on me like a predator who had just found it's prey.

I was now experiencing one of those moments when you immediately wish that what you had said could be rewound BACK into your mouth.

To Be Continued......

Wrap It Up - February

Oh man, where did the month go? Seriously I am slightly disappointed in myself. I wish I could have read more, but work TOTALLY screwed that up for me :(

I was only able to knock out 3 books last month....commence with the BOO's it's ok, just try not to throw any rocks.

This month I have set a realistic goal of 8 books (though I secretly in the back of my head want to read about 15). That way if I fall slightly short of my "True Goal" I won't be disappointed.

Talkative Tuesday 3/1/11

Morning, Morning, Morning! Hope the new month has been good to you so far, yes all 8 and half hours of it. It's been slight chaos with a twist of crazy for me, but I love it!

This week I want to introduce the lovely ladies from, Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. Both Candy & Sarah have a love of romance novels, whether it's historical, paranormal, or just contemporary, they don't discriminate. Their blunt and honest opinions have granted them the honor of appearing in a wide range of publications from People Magazine, to The New York Times. With a TRULY honest grading system they have set the bar for numerous bloggers & reviewers. I for one enjoy reading their reviews because they seem to truly hold nothing back, and I love that!

Now when you stop by their website make sure you check out their greatest hits, there is some funny stuff in there. Also remember to add their Facebook page so you can get all the Smart Bitches updates and be thoroughly entertained at the same time!
